So far, February 2023 is keeping that pattern going. One of the biggest new game releases of 2023 is scheduled to launch in February, alongside many other promising titles. Not only that, but a good portion of those games will be coming to Sony’s PS4 and PS5 consoles. However, new game releases aren’t the only reason why PlayStation gamers are going to be busy in February 2023.

February 2023 will also see the release of major new hardware, and there are also rumors of a State of Play event happening soon. Whether this comes to pass or not remains to be seen, but regardless, February 2023 should be a huge month for the PlayStation brand.
New PS4 and PS5 Game Releases for February 2023
Deliver Us Mars - February 2 Hogwarts Legacy - February 10 Theatrhythm Final Bar Line - February 16 Tales of Symphonia Remastered - February 17 Wild Hearts - February 17 Atomic Heart - February 21 Like a Dragon: Ishin! - February 21 Horizon Call of the Mountain - February 22 Blood Bowl 3 - February 23 Clive ‘N’ Wrench - February 24 Octopath Traveler 2 - February 24 Destiny 2: Lightfall - February 28
There are numerous noteworthy game releases coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in February 2023, and this is not even a comprehensive list. The most notable new PS5 release of February 2023 is open world Harry Potter action-RPG Hogwarts Legacy, with the PS5 version dropping on February 10. Those that pre-order the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Edition versions of the game will have the chance to start their Hogwarts journey a few days early on February 7 instead.
While Hogwarts Legacy will be a multi-platform release that’s also coming to PC and Xbox, the game will have some PlayStation exclusive content for fans to check out. Those on PS5 will be able to experience a horror-like Hogwarts Legacy quest set in Hogsmeade, meaning they will have a bit more to do during their time at Hogwarts when compared to those playing on other platforms.
Hogwarts Legacy is likely to dominate the conversation surrounding the new PlayStation games coming in February 2023, but it is far from the only noteworthy release next month. PlayStation gamers that enjoy RPGs can also look forward to games like Tales of Symphonia Remastered, which modernizes one of the most popular JRPGs of all time, as well as Octopath Traveler 2, which provides a brand-new kind of JRPG experience.
Another big release coming in February 2023 is Atomic Heart. Atomic Heart takes inspiration from games like BioShock and Fallout, and its impressive gameplay videos have been turning heads for years. FPS fans have waited quite a long time to try Atomic Heart for themselves, and luckily for them, the wait is nearly at an end.
Of course, Atomic Heart isn’t the only major new FPS game scheduled to launch in February 2023. The long-awaited Lightfall expansion for Destiny 2 is also geared up for a February release, set launch on February 28. The Destiny 2: Lightfall expansion will move the game’s overarching story forward significantly and should come with a host of new gameplay features and improvements.
In the meantime, a new indie game dropping in February 2023 may very well turn out to be a sleeper hit for the month. PlayStation gamers that loved 3D platformers like Jak and Daxter and Ratchet & Clank back in the day will want to keep an eye on Clive ‘N’ Wrench. Clive ‘N’ Wrench takes direct inspiration from those classic PlayStation 2-era 3D platformers, and while it remains to be seen if it will reach the same heights, it does look promising.
PlayStation VR2 is On the Way
There are plenty of new games releasing in February 2023, many of which stand a shot at being rather notable new entries to PlayStation’s growing library of titles. However, PlayStation gamers have more than just new software releases to look forward to in February. On February 22, PlayStation will be launching the PS VR2 headset, the latest iteration of its virtual reality hardware.
PS VR2 boasts many improvements over its predecessor, including vastly improved graphics, new controllers, and more. The PlayStation VR2 headset’s improvements come with a hefty $549.99 price tag, making it more expensive than the PlayStation 5 console itself, but hopefully it’s worth the price of admission. The PS VR2 is coming out swinging with its launch games, offering fans plenty of titles to choose from, including the highly-anticipated Horizon Call of the Mountain virtual reality experience.
Time will tell if PlayStation VR2 is able to live up to the high bar set by the original PlayStation VR headset, but it is offering significant improvements and is coming out of the gate with an impressive lineup of launch titles. PS5 gamers will find out if PS VR2 was worth the wait when the headset launches on February 22.
State of Play Event Rumors
If the new games and PlayStation VR2 headset weren’t enough to keep PlayStation gamers busy in February 2023, there are also rumors that Sony will be hosting a State of Play event some time next month. These rumors have not been substantiated by any official sources at all, so fans should certainly take the information with a massive grain of salt, but Sony has hosted State of Play events around this time of the year in the past.
Right now, Sony’s slate for 2023 looks rather bare in terms of first-party releases. Besides Spider-Man 2 in the fall and the PlayStation VR2 launch titles in February, there’s not a lot of first-party games for fans to look forward to, so it would make sense for the company to host a State of Play sooner rather than later to keep the PS5’s momentum going strong. However, fans should keep their expectations in check and not get their hopes up for a State of Play in February until one is officially announced.
