One of the key changes coming with the Endwalker expansion of Final Fantasy 14 is the retirement of old tomestones such as Allegory and Revelations. For those unaware, tomestones are a form of ingame currency that players can spend on endgame gear – not unlike World of Warcraft’s Valor points.

Those who have yet unspent tomestones of Allegory or Revelations need not despair, as players can exchange them for the baseline Tomestones of Poetics by talking to Auriana in Mor Dhona. The Allagan Tomestones of Poetics can now be used to now buy Shadowbringers gear, including the 430 item level Cryptlurker set.
Tomestones of Aphorism And How To Obtain Them
The new tomestones introduced with Endwalker come in two varites. The Allagan Tomestones of Aphorism are the uncapped version with which a player can acquire Endwalker gear or even high-end crafting materials. The second type – capped at 450 per weekly reset – are called the Allagan Tomestones of Astronomy. They will be added a month after release, around the time of Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker’s first tier of Savage raids.
To start earning tomestones of Aphorism, a player must first finish the Endwalker Main Scenario Quests, and as a result, be at level 90. Obtaining the tomestones from that point on is as simple as completing daily duty roulettes such as dungeons and raids. Namely, the exact values of tomestones earned through roulettes are as follows:
Expert Dungeons: 80 Allagan tomestones of aphorism
Level 50/60/70/80 Dungeons: 120 Allagan tomestones of aphorism
Leveling Dungeons: 100 Allagan tomestones of aphorism
Trials: 60 Allagan tomestones of aphorism
Main Scenario: 100 Allagan tomestones of aphorism
Alliance Raids: 120 Allagan tomestones of aphorism
Normal Raids: 60 Allagan tomestones of aphorism
Mentor Roulette: 30 Allagan tomestones of aphorism
Frontlines: 50 Allagan tomestones of aphorism
While the tomestones from daily roulettes can only be obtained once per day, players can consecutively run level 90 dungeons and raids for an endless supply. With no weekly cap, the only thing one needs to worry about when it comes to earning tomestones of Aphorism is not exceeding the 2,000 currency limit.
The gear vendors that exchange a player’s tomestones for Endwalker are situated in the city of Radz-at-Han, effectively a parallel to Eulmore in Shadowbringers, which served a similar purpose. The best gear that one can obtain for tomestones of Aphorism – at this time – are item level 570, which will allow players to engage in higher levels of endgame content in Final Fantasy 14 more comfortably.
